This Masonic Meetup is sponsored by the members of Progress Lodge #22. This is an informal gathering for those that have been interested in Freemasonry, have family members who were Masons but don't know any Mason now or for anyone who has questions about the world's oldest fraternal organization in Utah. For current Progress Lodge members its a chance for us to bring out our families for a social outing and have some lively discussions and fellowship. We encourage Masonic brethren from other Utah lodges or those brethren travelling through the state to join us as well. This is the annual picnic for Progress Lodge #22 Free and Accepted Masons of Utah. This event is open to all Masons, Non-masons, friends and family. Menu is hamburgers and hot dogs with all the fixings. Salads, dessert and drinks. We'll be looking to serve about 1pm, but we have the pavilion from 10am to 3pm so feel free to come by early and stay late. The park has a playground near the pavilion for the kids and there's plenty of parking. Cost is $7 for adults, kids 12 and under $3. Progress Lodge has been doing this event for many years and it's always a great time of fun, food and fellowship. Please RSVP by June 25, 2008 with your choice of hamburger or hot dog. We're expecting a big turnout this year, so be sure and RSVP that your coming. See you at Murray Park!!

This month you have the opportunity to witness some Masonic ceremonies that are open to the public and the event happens to fall on our Meetup night!!! The Scottish Rite of Utah (a member of the Utah Masonic Family) is holding a special Remembrance and Renewal ceremony at 7:30pm at the Salt Lake Masonic Temple on March 27th. If you're currently a Mason and interested in learning more about the Scottish Rite this is something you need to attend. If you're a non-Mason and always wondered what goes on in that big building at the corner of South Temple and 700 East this is something you don't want to miss. Most Masonic rituals are not open to the public; so you should take advantage of the opportunity to see one of our ceremonies in person. Please plan on arrive between 7:15pm and 7:20pm so we have time to meet up and get you to the ceremony. Again, this is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!!! So please RSVP for this special meetup event!!! We're going to change things up a bit with the Meetup this December. We've decided to go to the MOVIES this time!!! "National Treasure: Book of Secrets" hits theaters on December 21st. So, we thought we go as a group to see this movie on December 27th. The first "National Treasure" contained plot points involving Freemasonry, but it was all fictional (you already knew that, didn't you?) The sequel is said to make allusions to Masonry as well. We'll be meeting at the theaters at Jordan Commons and we'll look for a movie time after 6pm. This would be a fun evening to invite your family or significant other to. There are also plenty of food possibilities inside the theater as well as at Jordan Commons. So, come out and have a little fun with us over the holidays!!! Once we know what the showtimes are, we'll post our movie time on this site as well. So, be sure and check out this site after the 21st.
